Shi Rongjian is dedicated to accelerator physics and technology. Many papers are published in international academic periodicals and conferences. A scholarly monograph is issued. He attended the operation, maintenance and improvement for the Beijing 35MeV Proton Linear Accelerator. He directed successfully some research programs including electron gun of intense beam for dynamitron accelerator, electroncurtain system and standing-wave electron accelerators. He was responsible to accomplish the physical designs of accelerating structure for S-band and L-band travelling-wave accelerator, the numerical simulations and development of focusing magnets, steering magnets, scanning magnets and quadrupole magnets. He took charge of the research program funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China. As one of the principal investigators, he managed to accomplish the Major Program of Knowledge Innovation Program of the CAS. As the principal investigator of secondary institution, he accomplished one of the National Science & Technology Pillar Program. In 2010, he took charge of the program of Research Equipment Project of CAS. In 2013, he took charge of the National Major Research Equipment Development Special Project supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China.
