The structure functions in the tau --> 3 pi upsilon decay are extracted using the model proposed by Li. We compare the predictions of the Li model with the KS ones and the data from the OPAL experiment, and find that predictions by the model for W-A(Q(2)) an consistent with the data except for in the high energy region (Q(2) > 1.2 GeV2), and w(C), w(D), w(E) normalized to w(A) are in reasonable agreement with the experimental results. A running mass function of m(a1) is proposed to the model.
