A constituent quark model is developed for the reaction gamma p -> eta p , allowing us to investigate all available data for differential cross-sections as well as single polarization asymmetries (beam and target) by including all of the PDG, one to four star, nucleon resonances (S-11, P-11, P-13, D-13, D-15, F-15, F-17, G(17), G(19), H-19, I-1,I-11, and K-1,K-13). Issues related to the missing resonances are also briefly discussed by examining possible contributions from several new resonances (S-11, P-11, P-13, D-13, D-15, and H-1,H-11).
