摘要 | The photon cascade emission of Gd3+ ions under S-8(7/2)-->(6)G(J) excitation is observed in GdBaB9O16. Under the 202 nm excitation, a red and a near infrared radiative transition from (6)G(J) states, (6)G(J)-->I-6(J) and (6)G(J)-->P-6(J) occur followed by an ultraviolet emission of P-6(J)-->S-8(7/2). The absence of emission from D-6(J) and I-6(J) states is attributed to the effective multiphonon D-6(J)-->I-6(J) and I-J-->P-6(J) relaxation in this lattice. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A.
