AbstractA ratiometric fluorescent probe for the visual detection of Cu2+ in aqueous media has been developed based on a "click" reaction between a pyrene azide and a positively charged terminal alkyne. The probe has a quick response and excellent selectivity towards Cu2+, with a detection limit as low as 50 nM.
