摘要 | The photoluminescence properties of GdBO3:Tb3+ under VUV excitation was investigated. Visible quantum cutting via downconversion in GdBO3:Tb3+ upon Tb3+ 4(f)8-4f(7)5d(1) excitation and host excitation has been observed. In the quantum cutting process, one short-UV or one VUV photo absorbed by Tb3+ is split into multiple visible photos emitted by Tb3+ through cross relaxation and direct energy transfer. According to calculations, the maxima quantum efficiency was up to 174% and 157% under excitation at 235 nm and 164 nm, respectively. (C) 2011 The Electrochemical Society.
